Feb 20, 2017 I am trying to test Storage Spaces Direct using Dell R720s with the Perc H710P mini on-board. One limitation of the H710P raid card is that it does not support pass-through. As a result I tried to define several of the on-board drives as Raid0. However none of the Raid0 seems to be detected as. The storage controller must be a simple HBA. Physical slot location of SATA drives might not be returned correctly when using Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct (S2D). Multiple direct attach SATA drives within a cluster might show the same World Wide Name (WWN) when using Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct (S2D).
Microsoft Storage Space Device Driver
I don't have the AHCI drivers and I'm not sure how to get them. I have tried the regedit options that I have found, but msahci doesn't exist in the registry and another option I found was already at its correct value. I have booted with AHCI in the BIOS, but the device manager doesn't have anything AHCI related and Samsung Magician says it isn't working either. Under storage controllers, Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller is the only thing there. I am running Windows 10.
Is it worth the trouble of getting this to work properly and if so, does anyone know how? Possible relevant system parts: i7 6700k Asrock Z170 Extreme4 850 Pro 500 GB SSD 2 TB HDD Thanks for looking.
